Out in the California desert, Spring means its finally Coachella time. This year, the famous Coachella Festival held in Indio, California (close to Palm Springs), is taking place during the second and third weeks of April. The first weekend is being held from April 10th -  12th while the following weekend dates are the 17th - 19th. The lineup includes some of your faves such as Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G, Young Thug, Addison Rae, Foster the People, and more!

Of course, the Coachella Valley has a lot more to offer other than the famed festival, from shopping to wellness to hiking. While you'll definitely be spending most of your time at the festival, for those who want a slower stay or a break from dancing and partying, look no further. We've curated the perfect guide of places everyone goes to during Coachella weekend just for you, including popular hotels to stay at and restaurants to grab a bite at.

Where to Stay

While the hotel will be the place you spend the least amount of time during Coachella weekend, why not pamper yourself with a classier, high-end stay? Unwind in a comfy hotel room after a night out on the festival grounds.

SANDS HOTEL & SPA: This four-star hotel is the first designer boutique hotel in Indian Wells and has even been featured in many famous travel magazines.

LA QUINTA RESORT & CLUB: For a historic vibe, check out La Quinta Resort and Club, where golf champions have played and even presidents stayed. Not to mention, they have 42 climate-controlled pools.

LEGACY VILLAS LA QUINTA RESORT: These vacation rentals are part of and located right next to the La Quinta Resort, offering a more private and exclusive stay.

THE RITZ CARLTON, RANCHO MIRAGE: For an elevated stay with a to-die-for view of the desert, this Ritz-Carlton location offers a different level of luxury.

GRAND HYATT INDIAN WELLS RESORT & VILLAS: A resort to rival resorts, the Gran Hyatt Indian Wells Resort and Villas offers golf courses, spa services, and the best water park you'll ever see.

Where to Eat + Caffeinate

The Coachella Valley has quite a lot to offer in terms of cuisine, from authentic Mexican to fresh local produce to upscale dining. Whatever you're feeling, Indio has it.

La Spiga Ristorante Italiano

LAVENDER BISTRO: This cute French-style restaurant was voted "Best romantic restaurant" and offers New American cuisine with an atmosphere to die for.

ADOBE GRILL: For those who love Mexican food, Adobe Grill is the perfect mix of upscale dining and authenticity.

LA QUINTA CLIFFHOUSE: A local secret, the La Quinta Cliffhouse is a great pick for those interested in a unique dining experience.

JUNE HILL'S TABLE: Located very close to the festival grounds, this restaurant is named after one of Coachella Valley's most famous residents and features delicious seasonal dishes.

LA SPIGA RISTORANTE ITALIANO: For a night of elegance and fairy lights under the moon, Italian is always the right call.

EVERBLOOM COFFEE: The coolest thing about Everbloom is that you can grab their batch drinks, bottled. That means you can get a 1/2 gallon of your fave chai, matcha, or a staple latte. AKA, if you don't have enough time or energy while prepping for (or after) the festival, you can just pour yourself a serving!

MENTOSA COFFEE: Matcha, coffee, chai, cold brew. You name it & they've got it. This place is quite the hit if you're a fan of staples or experimenting!

What to Do

You might be wondering, what is there to do out in the middle of the desert, especially in cities known for their appeal to retired peoples. Indio (where the festival grounds are) and the surrounding cities of Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, and Indian Wells have a lot to offer in terms of shopping and wellness and many more.

GOLDENVOICE SURF CLUB: If you're up for more partying and festivals, check out Goldenvoice at the Palm Springs Surf Club, where music meets wave pools and resorts.

EL PASEO SHOPPING DISTRICT: Make sure to check out the Rodeo Drive of the Desert in nearby Palm Desert, where you have your pick of upscale stores and outdoor restaurants.

JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK: If you're down for a great workout and a fantastic view of Coachella Valley, spend the morning hiking one of the many trails in this desert park known for its Joshua trees. Don't forget to bring water!

GATHER YOGA & WELLNESS STUDIO: For a well-needed break from partying, spend the morning practicing mindfulness and yoga. And if you're lucky and the weather is great, you can even do the class outside on the grass.

SUNNYLANDS CENTER & GARDENS: This famous estate is known for its plant diversity and garden landscape, being inspired by impressionism and post-impressionism.
