You've defnitely seen the beautiful green bottles of skincare that are loved by celebrities and supermodels called Tata Harper. Named after the founder, Tata Harper, the skincare brand was created because Tata didn't want to risk her health for beauty and believes in 100% natural products. The brand has over 350K followers on Instagram. In the words of Tata: "I love doing this. I feel very happy creating a product that not only makes your skin beautiful but also keeps people healthy and improves quality of life. That is extremely rewarding."

In 2005, Tata was working as a real estate developer in Miami. After her father was diagnosed with cancer, Tata wanted to eliminate all chemicals toxins in her own life including skincare. She moved to a 1,200 acre farm in Vermont and set out to make all-natural products.

Tata Harper shared her daily routine with The Kit and Russh:

“I’m up at 6 or quarter to 6 every day, and this is a big faux pas, but I take my phone, I go through all my emails and I answer everything that is urgent just so that I feel a sense of relief. People are waiting for answers, so I’m very respectful of that. While the kids are still sleeping, I always try to get outside and walk the dogs. It's a nice way to get my body moving in the morning before I head to the gym. I don’t exercise to be fit, but to feel both mentally and physically strong. For me, it’s really the most effective stress reducer. Then, I exercise in my home gym. I like doing weights; I feel like that’s what gives me the most bang for my buck. I usually to listen to music or a podcast while I work out. Then, the kids get up and I make them breakfast, organise their activities, and spend some time with them outside. In the summer months, we love to walk down to the berry bushes and pick fresh fruit off the trees for their oats or yogurt. I take them to school, come back and work throughout the morning. My meetings typically start at 8:30am and I am in them back-to-back most of the day. When I have breaks in between calls, I love to check in on what’s cooking in our batch room or I'll try some of the new products our chemists are formulating in the lab. By 1pm, I am always starving for lunch! I try to have lunch with my kids whenever they aren’t in school, doing their activities, or in camp. My typical lunch is a bed of greens with a piece of fish or plant-based protein. I like to fill my salad with veggies and seeds for the extra vitamins and nutrients because they keep me full for longer. After lunch, it’s back to meetings for the rest of the day. My calls typically wrap up at around 6pm and I’ll help the kids with their homework before we sit down for dinner. After getting my kids ready for bed, I love to draw myself a bath to relax and use some of my favourite body products like our Smoothing Body Scrub and read while I soak away the stress of the day. After my bath and skincare routine, I get into bed around 9:30 p.m. and end the day with some meditation. I’ve found that visual meditation helps with sleep, especially after looking at a screen all day. I keep my phone across the room at night to stay disconnected and relaxed before I sleep.”

She also shared how she balances her time with work and her kids:

“I’ve learned that when you have a lot of things to do, you need to get really disciplined at controlling your time. You need to spend time managing your time and planning out your life. I already know what I’m doing though March, because I know that my kids’ birthdays are in March and I can’t be travelling, I know that I have my kids’ conferences, I know that I have a friends trip that I want to go on, I know that I have a wedding. I build my personal things into my schedule and I give them the same importance as the work stuff. Same for exercising. I know that for me to be sane, I need to exercise every day or at least many times a week and I need to sleep eight hours. So I just schedule myself around that, and then I’m not available for any other thing. I’m really good at putting boundaries around my time.”

Because she's a natural skincare guru and creator, it was only necessary that we mention her skincare routine:

“In the morning, I always start with the Regenerating Cleanser to gently buff away all of the dead skin cells that have accumulated on my skin throughout the night. Daily exfoliation also helps following products penetrate the skin deeper, for even greater results. Next, I’ll liberally mist my face with the Hydrating Floral Essence to hydrate and prep my skin for my serums. Elixir Vitae is my desert island product, and I apply it all over my face. It’s packed with 72 high-performance ingredients to provide a visible filling effect with natural re-densifiers, and it targets signs of aging for plump, youthful-looking skin. Next, I’ll massage Restorative Eye Crème around my eyes, using our Crystal Gua Sha Spoon, to lift and depuff my face. I finish with our ultra-hydrating Repairative Moisturizer for a radiant, dewy finish.

For my nighttime routine, I love to double-cleanse, starting with the Nourishing Oil Cleanser. It’s a vitamin-enriched cleansing oil that breaks down buildup and dissolves makeup. I follow that with the Purifying Cleanser for a complete skin detox, especially when I’m traveling and have been exposed to greater amounts of pollution. I use the Concentrated Brightening Essence at night, to help create a bright and even complexion and the Boosted Contouring Serum on my neck. The neck is often overlooked when it comes to skincare, but it’s so important to apply your products all the way down to your neck and chest to prevent visible signs of aging. I like a thicker eye cream at night, so I apply a generous amount of the Boosted Contouring Eye Mask all around my eye area, and finish by patting in a few drops of our Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil for even more anti-aging benefits.”

Tata Harper not only produces all-natural skincare products but they huge on sustainability within the company. This is what it means to them:

"For us, sustainability isn’t about marketing, it’s just the way we’ve always done business. You can’t be a green company without a green product, and that means everything from ingredients to manufacturing to packaging needs to take the planet into account. We create products that enrich, not deplete, our environment and resources. We consider everything from using local ingredients and talent, to packaging, to manufacturing processes, and our respecting living creatures.

The future of sustainability for us is to end single-use products and I am proud to say that we have launched our first refillable product, the Water-Lock Moisturiser, and have some exciting new developments for refills coming this year. We’ve been working on refills behind the scenes for a while now! First, we’re doing refills for our best sellers and eventually our entire product line. I hope that this is something that other beauty brands begin to adapt because it is so crucial in reducing the industry's environmental footprint."
